PM Imran Khan Meets US Special Representative For Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad

Prime Minister Imran Khan recapped that peace in Afghanistan was in Pakistan’s interest as a war in the neighboring country would stance somber challenges for Islamabad.

The development came during his meeting with US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad in Islamabad,

Both parties swapped views on the predominant condition in Afghanistan and the need for accelerating the peace process.

Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad is on a one-day visit to Islamabad as part of a visit to the region.

“Escalation of conflict and instability in Afghanistan was not in Pakistan’s interest as it would lead to serious challenges for Pakistan in areas of security and influx of refugees adding that durable peace in Afghanistan would open avenues for regional economic connectivity,” stated the PM.

The prime minister further emphasized Pakistan’s productive exertions for enabling peace efforts for attaining a comprehensive, broad-based, and inclusive political defrayal to end over four decades-long skirmishes in Afghanistan.

The premier recalled that he has consistently highlighted that there is no military solution to the clash in Afghanistan.

The hassle of a government by force will not lead to the determination of the conflict and that only a converted defrayal will bring permanent peace and constancy to Afghanistan, he said.

Repeating Pakistan’s reliable support to a peaceful, stable, and united Afghanistan, the prime minister emphasized that a safe and safe Western border was in Pakistan’s own best interest and Pakistan would like to endure closely affianced with the US and other pertinent countries for peace efforts.

The prime minister accentuated the need for all Afghan flanks to show suppleness and engage meaningfully with each other.

PM Imran Khan added that as recommended by him at the recent Central Asia and South Asia Connectivity Conference in Tashkent, it was important for Afghanistan’s neighbors and regional countries to beneficially work together for a permanent political defrayal in Afghanistan.
