No school in KP to be without basic facilities by June! - Read Now

All public sector schools in the province would be provided with basic and missing facilities until June 2017 while shortage of teaching staff would also be overcome.

This was stated by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Director Schools Rafiq Khattak while talking to journalists during his visit to Lower Dir on Saturday.

He said over 15,000 teachers would be inducted by the elementary and secondary education department through NTS by the end of current year.

The director schools along with deputy director Wali Khan, senior planning officer Hashmat Ali and district education officer Dr Hafiz Mohammad Ibrahim paid surprise visits to different schools for boys and girls in Timergara, Mian Banda, Rani, Danwa, and Rabat.

The director schools sought explanation from headmistress of government girls’ high school, Rani, for not observing cleanliness. He expressed dismay over unhygienic conditions prevailing in the school and directed the school’s head to keep the environment clean.

Mr Khattak expressed wonder as to how the government girls’ primary school, Rabat I and Rabat II were being run in a single building, and sought explanation from the DEO female. He also issued directives to merge both the schools.

Rafiq Khattak said there would be no school in the province with missing facilities after June 2017.

He also announced construction of new building for government girls’ higher secondary school, Rabat. The director schools also watched a tug-of-war match and PT show at Mian Banda.

WATER SHORTAGE: Residents and local government representatives of Rahimabad village council of Samarbagh on Saturday demanded of the government to take concrete steps for provision of drinking water to the locality.

Talking to Dawn, the locals led by village council nazim Dost Rehman said work on a water supply scheme for their village was started three years ago, it could not complete till date.

They said due to long drought natural springs had dried up, creating acute water shortage in the locality. They demanded of the authorities concerned to take prompt action for provision of drinking water to residents.

Meanwhile, village council Tangi Payeen nazim Shafiullah announced to quit JUI-F and join Jamaat-i-Islami during a function at Sheena.

Several other political activists, including Ismail Khan of ANP and Saeed ur Rehman of JUI-F, also announced to join the JI.
